Sections Manager
Guide to managing document sections and overriding global page layouts, headers, footers, and margins on a per-section basis.
The Sections panel allows you to split document templates into distinct physical or logical parts. Each section can maintain its own specific layout format, orientation, header/footer visibility, and margins that override global document defaults.
Managing Sections
Access the Sections panel from the left sidebar navigation bar (the stacked document icon).
- Add Section: Click the + Add Section button to append a new page section to your document flow.
- Section List: View all document sections in order. Clicking a section focuses the editor canvas directly on that section's content.
- Section Context Menu (
⋮): Click the three-dot menu icon next to any section title to open section-level actions, including accessing section overrides, reordering, or deleting the section.
Section Overrides
By default, sections inherit global settings from the main Document Settings panel. Opening a section's Settings (Section overrides) window allows you to apply unique structural configurations that apply strictly to that section.
Page Configurations
- Format: Override the baseline paper format for this section only (e.g., setting a specific section to
A4orLegalwhile the rest of the document remainsLetter). - Landscape: Toggle orientation specifically for this section. This enables mixed-orientation documents (e.g., portrait text pages followed by a landscape chart or matrix page).
- Header: Toggle switch to enable or disable displaying the document header within this section (e.g., hiding headers on title or cover pages).
- Footer: Toggle switch to enable or disable displaying the document footer within this section.
Margin Overrides
Customize boundary spacing for the current section independently from global document margins:
- Top: Top margin distance for this section (e.g.,
2.54 cm). - Right: Right margin distance for this section (e.g.,
2.54 cm). - Bottom: Bottom margin distance for this section (e.g.,
2.54 cm). - Left: Left margin distance for this section (e.g.,
2.54 cm).
